We stayed at a beach resort in Dunsborough in the Margaret River area called the Regency Beach Resort. Bird outings were at 6am every morning, ranging from the beach front walks to the lighthouse at Cape Naturaliste, Boranup and Tuart-Ludlow Forest.
Daybreak on the first morning….
when the light was soft and warm…
pacific swallows greeted us in the dim dawn light
and one of the first birds I saw outside the resort was this magnificent Osprey perched nearby
he was bathed in the warm morning sunshine
And this was one of the most common birds seen in this week…the New Holland Honeyeater
Here, beautifully perched in the morning sun
Australian magpie-lark…beautiful black and white, crow like bird
and as I walked along the beach, there were countless Galahs swooping around making a racket….
magnificently coloured in contrasting grey and red..the Galah
and over the water an Australian pelican flew gracefully
and posed on the water
seagulls on land…

Dunsborough beach is beautiful part of western Australia and staying here meant we could see both water and forest birds. Very nice indeed.
