A late night herping ramble along the Rifle Range Trail in Singapore started off quietly enough….the conduit was filled with roaring fast flowing water and not much was stirring. There were only a few little things….
spider with egg sac
And then J spotted this beauty….
the dog toothed cat snake..Boiga Synodon
Horizontal black stripe behind eye is typical
vertical cat’s eye pupil typical of the cat snakes
The mangrove cat snake also with vertical pupil is a relative…shot from a previous ramble in Bukit Timah reserve
the head is distinct and almost pentagonal
and when he departed, he showed us his arboreal nature beautifully, slithering effortlessly upwards..
pausing and posing before departing
colour and shape of the body blends in well with branches
