In Guangzhou for a few days meeting and initially stayed at the Bai Yun Oriental Convention Centre Hotel (Chinese run 5 star hotel)which was very convenient for the convention centre itself, but had to move out after one night, convenient or not.  It was a bit ominous when I checked in at midnight that the place was deserted with only 2 staff at check in.  Problem was that the room airconditioning itself was poor and after one hour, it was still 27C and when I asked for help, I was told that the temperature was not adjustable and that I should open the window if I wanted to cool the room! Having spent a miserable night, I moved over to the Grand Hyatt downtown the next day; a 30 min transit but infinitely more comfortable. Besides, the Bai Yun CC area is dead at night.

The Grand Hyatt is lcated near the Pearl River next to a city park and broad promenade with spectacular buildings fringing it.

I can only say that the buildings along this promenade (Above the Mall of the World) rival those of any major international city and whilst I usually prefer to shoot flora and fauna, I made an exception and shot some buildings this time….
