When: October 30 2016 Weather Cool, 21C
Nikon P900, Leica Q
We set off at 545am from KL heading to Bukit Tinggi for a few hours’ birding, seeking the mountain peacock pheasant, ferruginous partridge, orange breasted trogon…….hopes were high…as I’d heard a lot about this place and we were being brought there by an expert…..
It’s about an hour’s drive up a twisting winding road till you get to the botanic gardens….and then we walked into the area where the mountain peacock pheasant was known to be….

daybreak at the botanic gardens in bukit tinggi

we set up our camouflage netting to wait for the peacock pheasant…

A cackling noise was made by this bird…

and then this rather drab but still attractive female siberian blue robin appeared…

We saw a beautiful pair of great hornbills swooshing overhead, heard the sultan tit and orange breasted trogon but couldn’t see them….no sign of our main targets either…prob a result of the overnight rain…we finally moved to the botanic gardens where we got some nice shots of a juvenile tiger shrike.

So we ultimately were unable to see my target birds this morning 😦 …but it was still a fun outing with a few good sightings…
Wonderful photography!
I’m not an expert but the detail on those birds is amazing!
Pin-striped Tit Babbler for the bird you’ve labelled a Yuhina?
Thanks…. I agree it does look like the pinstriped tit babbler and have updated my post…
