When:  May 2016     Weather: Hot 30C

Gopro Hero 4, Pentax, Leica Q

My daughter bought the family a holiday in Cebu and to go snorkelling with the whale sharks in Oslob so off we flew to Cebu where we checked into the rather nice Shangri la Resort.

The seas around the Shangri La were clear enough to go diving and snorkelling…the snorkelling area is defined by some ropes…

there were lots of sergeant majors in the area..very tame and they would come up real close…

The next day we headed off to Oslob to spend the night so we could be out and among the whale sharks at 7am…

the little outriggers bringing us out to the feeding area where the sharks were being fed….here you can see the head of one whale shark just protruding out of the water

the whale sharks swam real close and you could see the water gushing down their throats to filter the plankton they feed on

such amazingly beautiful creatures..up close

Here’s a pair of them…we saw about 4-5 different ones during the half hour we were allocated

Although our trip was brief, the experience of swimming the whale sharks up close is extraordinary and well worth the effort!
