New Orleans birding: the City Park
When: May 2016 Weather: cool 17-22C
Nikon P900 and Leica Q
In New Orleans for a few days and found out that the nearest parkland was in the City Park, about a 15 minute ride out from my hotel near the French Quarter. I alighted at the Couturie Forest and did a very nice walk towards the water….

the first striking bird I saw was the Blue Jay..

the pond was rather scenic…

I’m not sure what this bird is, if any of my readers know, please enlighten me!

a chickadee?

not sure about this one…

maybe a scarlet tanager?

American Robin
Maybe my timing wasn’t good but there weren’t as many birds as I had expected; still being so near to town and easily accessible it was still a very pleasant morning’w ramble.
Lovely blog 🙂 I think your Mandarin Ducks may be Wood Ducks though. I’m not so proficient in US species though.
