Ah..what’s there to say about Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City? Asian city, vibrant, pulsing, a teeming city characterised by motorcycles and smiling people everywhere…a city of great food too. Being there for a meeting, I took an extra day off to do Saigon in a different way, thanks to a local friend who was kind enough to take me around to eat and photograph sites of interest…
I was brought around Saigon on a motorbike…if you can’t beat them, join them! What an opportunity to mingle with the local people on the roads and in their restaurants..
I wanted pho for breakfast…
Then the best spring rolls in Saigon
And then time for a beer by the road side bars..
And the last night we had drinks in the Sky Bar which offered a fabulous view of the sunsetting over Saigon
And a view of a busy road at night…
One of the best ways to see a new city is when a local brings you around!
Absolutely. I agree. The best way to really get to grips with a new destination, is to have a local take you around. You’ve written an excellent post with great photos.
I went to Vietnam a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. It’s a fine, interesting, adventurous country. Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City is the place where I learned how to cross the road! I like your photo of the nuns crossing the road outside the cathedral and the best spring rolls in the world! Yum, making my mouth water!
