Managed to get away from the Shopping outlet at Carlsbad to have a quick look round the Carlsbad Flower Fields just next door. It’s an easy walk pass an Armstrong Garden Centre and you soon seen the many Ranunculus blooms in the distance…
After entering, I turned right towards the Poinsettia tent and did an anticlockwise loop round the whole place….
The Flower Fields at Carlsbad…most people go to Carlsbad for the shopping outlet but the adjacent flower fields are well worth a visit
A housefinch welcomed me to the flower fields
The flowers stretch into the distance…
there are said to be 8 million blooms of ranunculus here…
red and orange into the distance…
purple and white
you can sit and enjoy or have a picture taken at the viewpoints
a multicoloured field…
which looked quite interesting even in black and white…
but this is what the coloured view was like
A horned lark was quite friendly and cavorted nearby
a deep pink field
a yellow field
an orange field
a purple field
red field
they are just as pretty close up…

and then a prolonged close encounter with a black phoebe
who caught a bug for breakfast
and entertained me for quite a few minutes
several of them were feeding each other…
So this was a great way to kill and hour or two if your other half is shopping…there’s also a nice Armstrong gardening centre right next to the Flower Fields.
