Having visited the water treatment plant(WTP) here in Nusa Dua a year ago, I decided to shoot the sunrise and revisit the WTP early…

Sunrise at a nearby beach..early…530am already getting light! after a few shots, I headed to the WTP…

sunrise over the WTP..which is actually a euphemism for sewage treatment plant!

The cormorants were stirring…

rather handsome pied cormorant

drying wings in the rising sun

The usual water birds were present…Javan pond heron

heron

sandpiper

pretty flowers
I resolved to spend a little more time looking around the fringes of the ponds where there was a lot of greenery….

this pretty pied fantail welcomed me..

the yellow vented bulbul was common

spotted dove

sunbird

sunda woodpecker

sunda woodpecker

Iora?

Great tit

and then I saw this flash of red colour …unfortunately the pic is very blurred but the red head can be made out….I think it was a red headed flowerpecker, endemic to Indonesia…

What was interesting was when the very same bird hopped and faced the sun, his head colour turned yellow! Like how the throats of the Anna Hummingbirds change colour in the sun!

even the sparrow looked quite nice in the soft morning light
