One of the activities organised by the Royal Scotsman train in Scotland is the clay pigeon shooting at the vast Rothiemurchus Estate….you can also choose to go fly fishing or hiking. Having never shot before, I thought it might be fun…

The Browning twin barrelled shotgun…absolutely wonderful craftsmanship

Our instructor Jon teaching us the finer points of shooting

cartridges are loaded into the chambers

the clay pigeon launcher…looks like a missile launcher!

And away we go…..

puff of smoke..with the clay pigeon in the distance

aiming at the target…

With a hit, the clay pigeon disintegrates into many small pieces…

removing the spent cartridge…

ejected cartridges..

A most enjoyable activity..

Me and my gun.. I could get used to this!
