Our second morning’s birding saw WengChun picking us up at 0630am this time and breakfasting in Ulu Langat village before heading onto the Congkak area…whilst the birds were harder to spot compared to Bukit Tinggi, they were more colourful and attractive.

Weng Chun heard the sound of the rufous collared kingfisher and after quite a while, he pointed it out to us, deep in the forest….hidden by branches and leaves
thankfully eventually he flew to a better perch

Wengchun then said, yellow broadbill! And here we can see the wings are black and yellow from the back view
he perched to check us out

Then this handsome banded woodpecker appeared on the scene

further down the road we found the black and red broadbills..here a pair!

then in the distance a large malkoha stirred
a chestnut breasted malkoha
whilst it also has a greenish beak, the body is much more colourful than the Green billed malkoha.

last bird of the trip was the red bearded bee eater..much closer than the day before….

So we birded for some 3.5 hours and had a good time despite only seeing half a dozen species….
