West Coast Park in Singapore was supposed to have the black capped kingfisher near the canal so I took a walk there this morning….it’s the one near the 24 hour drive in MacDonalds…..I joined the boardwalk towards the canal…..

A black and white hornbill perched on a tree branch surrounded by green foliage, holding a red fruit.
and several Pied oriental hornbills welcomed me…

and taking off…
A group of photographers gathered near a canal in West Coast Park, Singapore, surrounded by lush greenery.
at the canal, a crowd of birders had been waiting a while for the black capped KF….it had apparently appeared around 7-8am and we were a bit late….

I made my way back after a while along the boardwalk to a little viewing platform over the river where a few more birders were gathered …apparently a Dusky warbler had been seen there intermittently….but it was very shy and skittish…

blue throated bee eaters were plentiful

And a charming ashy tailorbird also appeared

Finally, just above the water, something stirred…

and teased us

but finally settled long enough to shoot…the Dusky Warbler…
A small bird perched on a branch surrounded by green leaves, possibly a Dusky flycatcher, in a natural setting.
characterised by the muddy brown coloured uppers with pale belly, no bars on the wings, white supercilium and black eyeline…

A lifer! the dusky warbler..a migrant

final bird of the morning was the collared kingfisher

A fruitful morning walk yielded the somewhat drab little brown job known as the Dusky warbler….but heck, a lifer is still a lifer…..
