Mandai Rainforest Resort : a new birding option in Singapore

We spent a night a the recently opened Mandai Rainforest Resort(MRR) by Banyan Tree group, on the banks of the Seletar Reservoir where the Singapore Zoo and Bird Paradise are located. The newly opened 3km long Mandai boardwalk was also easily accessed.

The TreeHouses have a large open balcony with wire netting for safety and to keep monkeys out..the view from TreeHouse 3104 is spectacular….it reminded us very much of the Amazonian waterways and Kinabatangan River in Borneo….only we were still in Singapore just 20min from the city centre

We decided to explore the Mandai boardwalk clockwise in the evening of our first day and counterclockwise the next morning….It’s about 3.3km takes about an hour or more depending how often you stop and enjoy the scenery or take pictures.

The Mandai Boardwalk is wide enough and well landscaped with stunning views of the reservoir..it was a dull drizzly evening

So we walked the Mandai boardwalk again the next morning entering from the Iora’nest walk entrance

Overall, we had a most enjoyable 24 hr stay the this new facility because of its proximity to the boardwalk, zoo and bird park. For visiting birders to Singapore, it’s not a bad idea to spend 2-3 nights here at MRR to bird watch and visit these facilities plus the night safari and river wild. Then move back to the city for the city part of the holiday.

Highly recommended.

  1. I can’t believe it’s in Singapore! Love the view of the reservoir and the rooftop flowers. Also, the pool! I had to look up the Mandai Rainforest Resort – it looks divine! Thank you for sharing!
