We were invited to stay at a property on the edge of the Els Golf Club in Desaru, Malaysia and the amount of greenery around boded well for birding…

the lush golf course out the backyard had collared kingfishers and pipits aplenty
a zebra dove looked at us
a common iora at the one and only resort..a very upmarket place to stay…
the pretty juvenile asian glossy starling
juvenile and adult asian glossy starling
oriental magpie robin
beautiful juvenile red throated sunbird
here we can just about see a tinge of orangey red at the throat
in the same tree as the sunbird, this pied malayan fantail displayed briefly
in the distance…the coppersmith barbet
pretty coppersmith barbet
the noisy male Asian Koel could be heard
Glimpse of the female Asian Koel
a couple of parakeets watched over the house
the lineated barbet
lineated barbet with its green wings blends well with foliage
final bird…a pretty white throated kingfisher made it 10 species in and around the house

Whilst these birds were less exotic than the ones we saw at Panti, they were still very pretty and interesting! Just about an hour yielded all these…
