Surrey is dotted with numerous patches of green park and farmland; we were able to spend a little time at each of these…Morden Hall Park is a National Trust Property with a very nice garden centre…

The entrance to Morden Hall Park is a little bridge over a stream ….Monet..ish in its feel
The moor hens were cruising up and down this lovely summer morn
the ubiquitous magpie wlecomed us
probable juvenile black cap
Mallards in the pond
mallard
coot in the water
Canada goose and mallard
a sprightly robin flitted around
clear streams
last bird of the morning….a jackdaw

The next morning, we hit another park…

Beddington Farmlands had been recommended by our new birding pal Paul….
it was scorchingly hot and sunny that morning
the beautiful goldfinch greeted us
goldfinch
there was a large lake with a hide nearby…
tufted ducks were busy
the flowers on the path were pretty
juvenile robin
we walked over to Beddington Park itself to cool off under the shade….
the daisies were in bloom
plenty of Canada Geese
a nest on the water with a few Canada goslings
and final bird of the morning and our surrey birding efforts was this wren playing on the stony path

This was the first time in many years I’d had the time and access to bird in a number of british parks and farmlands…it was certainly fun and the fine weather made it great fun. Recommended!
