Returning from the back mountain, we headed to the front of Qing Cheng mountain intending to take the cable car to the top but alas we were thwarted by bad weather…wet and miserable…

Approaching the main entrance to the front of mountan you are greeted by this majestic gate saying Qing Cheng Mountain, literally, Green mountain city. This is the gate that is featured in the Cartoon Kungfu Panda!
A close up of the roof shows the immortals who are part of the Taoism story
waterfalls at the front mountain in the miserable weather..
there was only a solitary blackbird skulking in the rain before we decided to call it a day and head back to our hotel
Bright and early the next morning, we checked out our resort and the farm on it….

a blue whistling thrush welcomed us….it was very similar to the one I shot in Alishan a few weeks ago

a common tailorbird
turtle doves in the farm
blackbird
and from our resort we can actually see Qing Cheng Mountain behind…we then set off for a walk up to the mountain turning right after leaving the front entrance…

as we walked along the road, a lovely oriental or grey capped greenfinch posed

it was probably nesting in this palm tree
we headed to the mountain
the walkway to the front mountain is beautifully landscaped
colourful foliage
Agapanthus flowers with morning dew
ubiquitous white browed laughing thrush
the school of Taoism
and then the star bird of the morning…the white morph of the black bulbul!
white headed black bulbul
the bushes along the walk way had lots of little birds flitting around…here an oriental white eye

and the very active juvenile black throated tit…very different from the one I shot in Taiwan a few weeks ago…perhaps the black throat hasn’t developed yet
black throated tit
distinct from the Taiwan blue magpie, this is the red billed magpie
we didn’t have time to go right up to the front gates, so we returned to the resort where the white wagtail showed up
I would say that the birding in the hotel grounds and on the walk to the mountain was very good birding indeed!
