Sabah Birding (7): Kinabatangan Wetland Resort

In between the rain and around mealtimes, the area around the boardwalk and dining room was excellent for birding…

The green imperial pigeon was readily seen…

and deep in the forest the stunning blue of the black naped monarch stood out

If it hadn’t been so wet, the birding at KWR would have been even better but it was still pretty good all told. One big negative about KWR is that although it’s supposed to have hot water showers, we did not have any at all during our stay and there seemed to be no back up generator to provide the hot water. So solar heating is all very well but there needs to be a back up.
