As the last leg of our photographic expedition to Papuma, Bromo and Madakalipura (see earlier posts) we stopped off at the wonderful Royal Trawas Hotel for the last night in preparation for the macro shoot the next day. Having stayed in arguably one of the most uncomfortable hotels ever in Bromo (the Cemarah Indah Hotel) the Royal Trawas was right at the other end of the spectrum…set in beautiful grounds surrounded by greenery and beautiful scenery…it was a perfect hotel to end the trip.
The sunrise was attractive….
Nearby were the picturesque terraced padi fields where we were served a simple but very nice breakfast…
And so on to the macro shoot nearby…..we were trying to shoot the scorpion fly a species I believe is not easily seen in Singapore and it wasn’t long before we found them….
The variety of bugs was impressive and they were also bigger than the similar bugs we’d see in singapore….
So this was the last stop on our great photographic jaunt of Java, Indonesia using Surabaya as our start and end point…..so much to see and shoot…..
Great photos, congratulations for the fascinating site! The big caterpillars are of Psilogramma discistriga in final (1st photo) and 3rd (2nd photo) instar. Best wishes, Bostjan
Thank you for visiting and for the help in identifying the caterpillars!
